Assistant Professor Maryam Mehri Dehnavi awarded Canada Research Chair in Parallel and Distributed Computing

Assistant Professor Maryam Mehri Dehnavi has been awarded a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Parallel and Distributed Computing. She is one of 22 U of T researchers awarded a new Canada Research Chair by the Government of Canada. 

The Canada Research Chair program is at the centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development. 

Tier 2 Chairs are awarded to exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field. 

Dehnavi’s research group, ParaMathics, develops novel systems, compilers, and mathematical methods to improve the performance of large-scale and big data applications on parallel and cloud platforms. 

The Department of Computer Science is proud to be the academic home to seven Canada Research Chairs, including Dehnavi.
