Two U of T Computer Science faculty members promoted

Two faculty members in the Department of Computer Science have received new professorial promotions, effective July 1, 2020. 

Raquel Urtasun has been promoted to the rank of Full Professor, and Sanja Fidler has achieved tenure and has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. 

Raquel Urtasun
Professor 

Professor Urtasun, a leading expert in AI for self-driving cars, is a Canada Research Chair in Machine Learning and Computer Vision and a co-founder of the Vector Institute for AI. She is Chief Scientist for Uber Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) and Head of Uber ATG Toronto. Her research interests include machine learning, computer vision, robotics, AI and remote sensing. 

Sanja Fidler
Associate Professor 

Professor Fidler’s work is in the area of computer vision. Her main research interests are 2D and 3D object detection, particularly scalable multi-class detection, object segmentation and image labeling, and (3D) scene understanding. She is a Director of AI at NVIDIA.
