Why did you choose U of T for your undergrad?

I actually started at U of T in the Faculty of Music. I had auditioned at several different schools and U of T had one of the teachers I wanted to study with. I didn’t end up studying with them but I got really lucky and got a teacher who ended up being really great and making me a much better singer and musician.

What inspired you to study computer science?

Gary Baumgartner. In my first semester I took CSC104 with Gary and learned so much about programming and I really wanted to continue learning about Computer Science and talking to Gary really inspired me to switch my program to Computer Science.

Who or what at U of T influenced your education the most?

The professors. I have met a lot of really great professors at U of T and engaging with them and learning from them has been the highlight of my university education. I’d really like to name a few of the professors who I think helped me the most (In the order I met them): Gary Baumgartner, Tom Fairgrieve, David Liu, Bahar Aameri, Karen Reid, Maryam Mehri Dehnavi, François Pitt, Murat Erdogdu and Alec Jacobson.

I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all of them.

How did you get involved at U of T outside of your coursework?

I was part of the U of T Robotics Association, where I worked on the autonomous rover team as well as the 3-D printing team. I was also part of the NeuroTechUofT. Coursework kept me pretty busy though.

What U of T memory do you treasure the most?

I met my partner of six years at a bus stop in my first semester while commuting to Richmond Hill. That’s a pretty special one.

What’s next for you?

Taking what I have learned and using it to make the world a better place.
