Professor Emeritus John Mylopoulos has been named to the first cohort of Fellows of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). The global information and communications technology (ICT) professional body, begun under the auspices of UNESCO in 1960, selected Mylopoulos and 17 other high-achieving members for their contributions to the ICT industry, in which they “play very significant roles in driving innovation, conducting research and industry development.”
“These are committed professionals who have helped to shape the ICT sector in a significant way through their contributions to their various professional domains. IFIP is proud to reward their efforts with recognition as Fellows,” said IFIP President Mike Hinchey.
Mylopoulos was recognized for his “outstanding contribution” to software engineering, having collaborated on the Telos approach to representing knowledge about information systems, and having helped to develop TROPOS, an agent-oriented software development methodology.
