Accelerate Conference

Accelerate is the first annual conference of the Acceleration Consortium (AC) at the University of Toronto (U of T). This interdisciplinary event is designed to bring together changemakers in academia, industry and government who are shaping the emerging field of accelerated science.

From August 30 to September 2, 2022, join us in Toronto to explore the power of self-driving labs (SDLs), which combine AI, automation, and advanced computing to accelerate materials and molecular discovery. These autonomous labs can reduce the time and cost of bringing advanced materials to market, from an average of 20 years and $100 million to as little as one year and $1 million. It is this technology that will get us closer to realizing the age of materials-on-demand, where we can rapidly develop the sustainable, inexpensive, and high-performance molecules and materials that we need the most, from consumer electronics and drugs to renewable energy and biodegradable plastics.

Conference talks, workshops and networking opportunities will allow you to connect with a global community working to realize a healthier, more sustainable, and materially different future.

Attendees will explore leading-edge methods, applications and research related to materials and molecular discovery. Join us to:

  • Gain an increased awareness of the fundamentals and tools for accelerated discovery including machine learning, data analysis and modelling, and laboratory automation

  • Discuss novel applications and discoveries in accelerated science including drug discovery and delivery, solid state materials, sustainable soft materials and low-carbon structural materials, etc.

  • Discuss societal implications of accelerated science, including legal, ethical, and economic considerations

  • Explore innovative and collaborative approaches to research translation as it relates to commercialization, leadership, training, and education
