Title: Business Process Management: The Scientific Discipline that Industry Loves
Presented By: Hajo Reijers, Utrecht University & Eindhoven University of Technology

Abstract:
Over the past 30 years, Business Process Management has evolved into a discipline that is rich in methods, tools, and techniques for managing the processes that take place within and across organizations. In this talk, I will illustrate the usefulness of these artifacts by reflecting on experiences of my team and myself in applying these in practice. I will discuss three applications, each of which emphasizes a different use case. I will show (1) how process mining is used for performance analysis, (2) how redesign methods are applied to innovate processes, and (3) how a combination of methods, including simulation, can be used for a what-if scenario analysis. I will end this talk with an overview of new developments that I consider of high industrial relevance.
