Research Areas

Computer Science at U of T is known for its work in neural networks, computer graphics, machine learning, theory, human-computer interaction (HCI), scientific computation, computer performance evaluation, and more. Our faculty's innovative approaches and paradigms have had widespread international impact.

We collaborate with more than 20 distinct units at U of T, solving problems through interdisciplinary inquiry, from robotics and computer vision, to computer animation, and bioinformatics.

Our research is supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and additional federal and provincial government sources and corporations.

The department is ranked first in Canada and among the best computer science departments in the world according to QS World and the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
