Graduate Studies at DCS

Graduate studies are a central focus of the Department of Computer Science (DCS), and our students engage in one of the most comprehensive programs of study in the country. Graduate students in our department develop research with internationally acclaimed faculty in all areas of computer science, and many interdisciplinary areas as well.

We currently offer three graduate programs leading to M.Sc., M.Sc.A.C and Ph.D. degrees. We have one of the largest graduate programs in the country, with over 300 students involved in state-of-the-art research projects. Graduate StudentsMost of our students present and publish their work consistently at top conferences and journals. Many of our students take advantage of our strong ties to industry (over 15% of our graduate students take time off to pursue internships in companies). We encourage you to browse the web pages of individual faculty to get a better sense of the quality and diversity of our research programs.

DCS is home to many of the top students in the country, including a significant number of scholarship recipients (e.g., NSERC, CGS, OGS). Graduates of our department are on the faculties of almost every Canadian university, as well as those of many of the top computer science departments throughout the world. Many of our graduate students go on to successful and exciting careers in industry, both at leading computer companies and at startups around the world.

We offer some of the most attractive funding packages in the country, with strong funding guarantees for up to five years that rise with tuition and fee increases, competitive Admissions Awards for students entering our programs, and significant financial top ups for scholarship holders.
