Title: Semantic Hacking
Abstract: Forensic linguistics, or the use of linguistic analysis techniques to interpret evidence, e.g., authorship attribution, is an established discipline. In this talk I will describe research on the application of forensic linguistic techniques to computer security in the context of the Semantic Hacking project at Dartmouth College’s Institute for Security Technology Studies. I will also discuss related research projects, including research on the detection of deception in text and in computer-mediated communication.
