Lunch with an Alum & the Chair
Bruce Pinn, CIO, Element Financial Corp.
Join Chair Sven Dickinson and Bruce Pinn for lunch in the Chair’s Office. This is your unique opportunity to ask questions and get advice from an alum who’s made a highly successful jump from the department to “the real world”!
Bruce Pinn is the Chief Information Officer, accountable for system development and infrastructure support at Element Financial Corp. Throughout his 30+ years in IT, Bruce has held a steady progression of positions in the industries of financial services, oil and gas, and education. Other accomplishments include bringing the Toronto Star newspaper online, and building a web-based, foreign exchange trading system for Thomas Cook that dominated its market segment in the ‘90s.
Bruce has also taken the opportunity to mentor computer science students at U of T, acting as a mentor in the DCS Mentorship Program, and serving as a panelist for the “How to Interview for Jobs in Computing” event last October.
