Speaker: Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum
Title: Ethereum and the Decentralized Future
In this talk Vitalik Buterin will summarize Ethereum and recent developments of this Turing-complete blockchain. Ethereum is a ledger technology where all business logic, would-be corporate contracts, agreements and by-laws, and trust transactions between consenting individuals can be entrusted into code. It is a social operating system designed to codify and facilitate the ways people interact in economic and social systems in a consensus-based decentralized fashion. Ethereum is a blockchain-based decentralized network that can serve as the basis for the next generation of peer-to-peer apps where transaction-based machine concepts can be build and defined in a cryptographically secured manner to accommodate users globally despite their geography, interfacing difficulty, uncertainty, or incompatibility. Moreover Ethereum provides the end-developer a tightly integrated end-to-end system for building software upon a trustful object messaging computer framework.
About the speaker:
Vitalik Buterin was born outside Moscow in 1994 and moved to Toronto at the age of 6. He is the creator of Ethereum and co-founder of the non-profit Ethereum Foundation in 2013, now based in Switzerland, that helps maintain Ethereum's core technology and its crypto currency interests. He is also the co-founder of Bitcoin Magazine. He attended University of Waterloo but dropped out when he received the Thiel Fellowship in 2014. In 2016 he was named 40 under 40 by Fortune magazine. Today Ethereum's platform serves as the underlying blockchain technology for major projects by Tier 1 banks, software giants, and governments.
