The University of Toronto's Research & Innovation Office
hosts an annual event to recognize the top innovative efforts at the university. This event included the announcement of the U of T Inventor of the Year awards; three of this year's recipients were DCS' Geoff Hinton, and recent graduates Ilya Sutskever and Alex Krizhevsky. The team invented Supervision, a deep neural network that works much better than previous systems.
The Research & Innovation Office also honoured initiatives that received Connaught funding this past year, and that group included MyVoice
, a start-up out of Ron Baecker's TAGlab
