DCS faculty member Mike Brudno has recently been appointed the Scientific Director of the Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM) and Senior Scientist at the Research Institute, Hospital for Sick Children. Mike will combine this new position with his work at the department; he has a 49% secondment to SickKids.
The CCM is a core facility within SickKids hospital tasked with providing computational and bioinformatics support to the clinicians and scientist at the Hospital. The CCM also manages SickKids HPC facility, which has >6,000 cores and 1.5 PB storage. This facility has recently become a Compute Canada node through the HPC4Health project, which aims to build a pan-Toronto health cloud.
Most of projects run at CCM can benefit from expertise in many subfields of computer science, and Mike is excited about using the CCM as a collaboration nexus between SickKids and DCS.
Please join us in congratulating Mike on his new appointment!
