Dr. François Pitt received one of five University
of Toronto Students' Union
and the Association of Part-time Undergraduate Students (U.T.S.U./APUS)
Undergraduate Teaching Awards for teaching excellence in 2009/2010. Award
recipients are selected based on nominations from undergraduate students. The
award selection criterion is demonstrated teaching excellence.
Within the nominations, describing François’ style of
teaching, students stated that "If computer science was the DaVinci Code
then François Pitt would be Robert Langdon, because he is one of the few that
can bring meaning to any abstract concepts" and “It is his natural gift to
transform a difficult and complex material into a rich but challenging learning
An awards reception will be held to honour the recipients on
Wednesday, May 6th, 2010 at the University
of Toronto Art Centre, University College.
