The RBC Prize for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a new annual business pitch competition to recognize, reward and accelerate U of T’s innovative technologies and startups taking place during the Entrepreneurship@UofT Week Startup Showcase. Selected teams will compete by pitching their business idea via a 5-minute pitch to a panel of judges.
The Early Stage Prize is for startups with up to $20K investment and revenue who are competing for a first prize of $10,000 and a second prize of $5000. The Later Stage Prize is for startups with between $20K-$100K investment and revenue; first prize in this category is $25,000 and second prize is $10,000.
Among the finalists is SHIELD Crypto Systems, part of the Department of Computer Science Innovation Lab's (DCSIL) Accelerator cohort.
SHIELD Crypto Systems has developed high performance applications using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) technology that reduces the risk of bank card data breaches. Our FHE encryption technology is at least 10,000× faster than competing implementations, and we help eliminate the $16B in annual losses due to card breaches and help companies in the banking ecosystem increase their net income by mitigating these losses.
SHIELD Crypto Systems will compete against five other top U of T startups in the Later Stage category on March 31 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Those attending can vote for the People’s Choice Award.
