The Canadian Association of Computer Science / Association d'Informatique Canadienne (CACS/AIC) is proud to announce the 2015 winners of the Lifetime Achievement Awards in Computer Science.
All six inaugural award recipients have a past or current affiliation with the U of T Department of Computer Science:
- Professor Emeritus Ron Baecker
- Professor Allan Borodin
- Professor Emeritus Calvin "Kelly" Gotlieb
- Professor Emeritus Pat Hume (1923 – 2013)
- Dr. Beatrice "Trixie" Worsley (1921– 1972)
The sixth inaugural award will go to Harvey Mudd College president Maria Klawe, a former department faculty member and a renowned computer scientist, mathematician and internationally-recognized advocate for women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Klawe will receive an honorary degree from the University of Toronto this June.
These awards are for outstanding achievement in research, teaching, or service (or any combination of these) over an entire academic career. Winners must have spent at least 10 years of their career as a faculty member in a Computer Science Department/School/Faculty at a Canadian University.
